What to Expect

In this module, you'll learn to consult with individuals with disabilities to understand their interests, needs, abilities, and preferences for community participation. You will identify and access community resources, programs, and services that align with their preferences, providing them with relevant information. The module emphasizes accommodating cultural and religious needs and supporting the use of assistive technologies. You'll implement strategies from individualized plans to support community participation and social inclusion, regularly reviewing and adjusting these strategies based on feedback. Recognizing and addressing barriers to participation is crucial, including identifying gaps in assistive technology and collaborating on solutions. Advocacy and monitoring the effectiveness of strategies are also key components. Lastly, you'll learn to seek advice for issues beyond your role's scope.
